7N Architects were appointed by the Scottish Government in 2011 to lead the Callander Charrette, a five day workshop with the community, local groups and agencies to establish a long term vision and strategy for the town.

Building on the Scottish Sustainable Communities Initiative, Charrette Series, which ran in March 2010, the Scottish Government launched the SSCI Charrette Mainstreaming Programme in 2011 linking community initiatives with specialist Charrette facilitator teams.

The Charrette team guided people from different sectors of the community and local agencies through a series of workshops and discussions, with the aim of creating a shared vision for the town’s future development and wellbeing.

The Charrette process resulted in a comprehensively endorsed set of key principles, priority initiatives and a masterplan for the town which will inform future agency strategies and local Community Action Plans.
