Public consultation is currently underway for 20 Haymarket Yards, a high quality mixed-use development comprising an office and hotel on an important gateway site adjacent to Edinburgh’s Haymarket Station.
The proposals will replace a small scale redundant office building with a high density development that will embody the highest levels of sustainable design and will be zero carbon in operation.
Delivering an estimated 1,400 jobs next to a major public transport hub, the proposals will encourage workers and visitors to travel sustainably in the city without a car. The development will significantly improve the public realm of Haymarket Yards by creating an active street frontage, including a café and a widened cycle route, as well as a safer, low speed environment that prioritises pedestrians and cyclists.
The greening of the public realm, the planted roof terraces, and all year round winter gardens within the office building will emphasise that this is a new kind of office environment, one which is focused on sustainability, wellbeing and amenity for its users.
Following feedback from the public consultation, a detailed planning application is expected to follow in 2022.
