We’ve just completed a feasibility study for Scotland’s Railway to reimagine Stranraer’s railway station - transforming it from a remote facility into a vibrant gateway that reconnects the town to its unique waterfront identity.
The current station is located at the end of the East Pier at Stranraer’s harbour. Since the ferry service relocated to Cairnryan in 2011, the station has felt remote from the town centre and no longer serves its original purpose.
Using our award winning HUB Station modular design, developed for Network Rail, our proposal envisions a relocated platform that celebrates Stranraer’s distinctive setting, framing views across Loch Ryan. This creates a memorable arrival experience and provides improved passenger facilities that will serve as a catalyst for waterfront regeneration, community vitality, and tourism growth.
Following the publication of our HUB Station design guidance for small and medium stations across the UK, initial projects are already underway in England to deliver the placemaking-led design concept, and we are excited to be bringing forward proposals in Scotland.
