Rowanbank Gardens has been designed around a new residents courtyard garden. This shared landscape, with fruit trees and communal growing is at the heart of a new dense, sustainable community that meets the needs of Edinburgh’s growing population.

We are working with award winning property developer Artisan Real Estate on their ambitious project in Corstorphine, Edinburgh. The 126 new mixed-tenure homes include a significant proportion of family accommodation, and are organised around flexible, open plan living with private gardens and generously proportioned balconies onto the courtyard.

The brownfield development has been designed with a holistic approach to environmental, economic, and social sustainability. The design employs an industry leading all-electric approach, incorporating improved fabric performance, heat-recovery and photovoltaics to reduce energy consumption and achieve significant improvements on carbon dioxide emission rates beyond current regulations.

The project is the first in Scotland to utilise internal Electric Air Source Heat Pump’s to minimise distribution heat loss and provide a far better embodied carbon performance than equivalent district heat network solutions.

The courtyard garden includes communal growing areas and a range of inclusive landscape spaces to support a sense of community, promote well-being, and enhance the experience of everyday life.
