Russell Road is a new purpose-built student accommodation scheme to the west of Edinburgh City Centre. Developed on behalf of our client the Ardent Group, the 182-room proposal will transform a derelict brownfield site on a key active travel route between Roseburn and Gorgie.

Featuring a well-proportioned design with a robust palette of high quality materials, drawing inspiration from the site’s industrial heritage, the project aims to deliver an exemplar model of student living in the city. The development will predominantly provide cluster flats with generous shared living and dining spaces, fostering community and connection among residents. At street level, shared amenity spaces will create an active frontage, leading through to a terraced courtyard garden — designed in collaboration with rankin fraser landscape architecture.

This proposal represents a key step toward meeting Edinburgh’s growing demand for high-quality purpose built student accommodation while revitalising a prominent site on the Council’s flagship Roseburn to Union Canal active travel route.
